GAMSAT Physics Syllabus

Re: GAMSAT Physics Syllabus

After tutoring hundreds of students over the past few years, I have discovered that many students struggle with physics in Section 3 of the GAMSAT. It is extremely important to know ‘what to study’, so you do not waste your time studying irrelevant topics that do not arise in the GAMSAT exam. If you want to pass the entry exam, you need the right GAMSAT preparation materials that give you access to all GAMSAT practice and example questions

Some Questions Asked About Gamsat Preparation

How is the gamsat scored

What you must know straight off the start is that it is important to know that GAMSAT scores are measured on a scale from 0-100. The higher the number on the GMASAT test score the higher the result, of course. According to general statistics measured over thousands of tests, most students usually score on average from 40-80 and that being about 95 percent of most students.

What Are GAMSAT Marks Based On ?

All GAMSAT marks are based on statistic adjustments which is known as item response theories otherwise also recognised as IRT. This is how GAMSAT scores remain comparable from year to year. When you do receive your results from the GAMSAT test, the score you are successful in will be what is known as your scaled score. Please do not confuse this with your percentage score in the exam or raw score.

How Is The GAMSAT Score Calculated ?

So what is the actual formula for calculating the GAMSAT score ? There is obviously a formula used to calculate the score and this is it. Note: The section on science which is in section III, has twice as much weighting than each of the other sections. This basically says that section III amounts to fifty percent of your GAMSAT overall mark or score which is huge. However, some universities treat section III with the same weighting as each of the other two sections (I and II). The two universities that do this are Sydney and Melbourne. Something which you may need to be aware of.

Section One:  You must complete 75 questions in 100 minutes. This represents 25% of your mark

Section Two:  Complete two essays in one hour, 25% of your mark for this section.

Section Three:  You must complete 110 questions in 170 minutes, 50% of your mark when successful.

An offer is based on what percentile your mark falls in
Score above a 65 overall.

What Percentile Do I Need To Be Successful For An Interview ?

It can be difficult to estimate what you need to place you in the higher percentile and give the opportunity for an offer on an interview, you must always be aware that if you score below 65, it is not likely you will be interviewed for an opportunity in the study of medicine. Where once a 60 would have been sufficient, 65 should be your absolute minimum overall score. Note that scores are slightly lower for entry into medicine. A solid section two score is in the 70s. Keep in m ind that you must not score below sixty in section one and be sure to score above sixty five for section three of the GAMSAT test.
